Are Facials All They’re Cracked Up to Be?
Welcome back!
So let’s talk about facials…
You see them everywhere—on social media, in spa ads—everybody glowing and looking refreshed. But the real question is… are facials really all they’re cracked up to be?
Short answer? Yes… and no.
Let me explain.
Before Your Facial: Let’s Talk First
Before anything touches your skin, we talk.
Your first facial should always start with a proper consultation. This is where I get to understand your skin—your concerns, your routine (or lack of one 😄), your lifestyle, and what you’re really trying to achieve.
Because everybody’s skin is different, and what works for someone else may not work for you.
You may be asked to:
Avoid certain products like retinol a few days before
Come with little to no makeup
Share any skin or medical concerns
This is where your treatment becomes customized—not just a basic “facial.”
During Your Facial: Relaxation vs Results
Now this is the part everyone looks forward to… the relaxation.
And yes, facials can feel amazing—but let’s be real for a second.
Not all facials are created equal.
A typical facial may include:
Deep cleansing
Exfoliation
Steam
Extractions (if needed)
Mask treatment
Massage
Serums and moisturizers
Let me touch on steam for a second…
A lot of people believe steam is what’s “working” on the skin. Truth is, steam is mainly for relaxation and to help soften the skin. On its own, it has minimal effect, unless it’s helping to activate or enhance a product already on your skin.
So yes… it feels good, but it’s not doing the heavy lifting.
Now for extractions…
Some people find it uncomfortable, while others don’t feel much at all. It really depends on you—your skin and your pain tolerance. So don’t compare your experience to anyone else’s.
And please, always speak up if something doesn’t feel right. This is your treatment.
And yes… You might fall asleep 😄
After Your Facial: This Is Where It Really Matters
Here’s the part most people don’t realize…
The facial doesn’t end when you leave.
After your treatment, your skin is more sensitive and more receptive, so what you do next matters.
You may notice:
A healthy glow ✨
Slight redness (especially after extractions)
Some sensitivity
Aftercare is key, so ensure you :
Avoid heavy makeup for at least 24 hours
Stay out of direct sunlight
Use gentle, recommended products
Follow your home care routine
One facial can give you a glow—but consistent care is what gives you real results.
So… Are Facials Worth It?
Yes! If they are done properly, customized to your skin, and supported with the right home care.
But here’s the no…
Facials are not a miracle fix.
They are not going to:
Clear long-term acne in one session
Remove deep hyperpigmentation overnight
Fix damaged skin without consistency
And if we’re being honest, some facials are done purely for relaxation, with little to no real impact on the skin.
So if you’re going in expecting a one-time facial to completely transform your skin… that’s where the disappointment comes in.
Facials are not just about pampering—they should be about understanding your skin, treating it properly, and maintaining it the right way.
So if you’ve been wondering whether to get one…Absolutely!
Just make sure you’re getting the right one, and depending on your skin needs, monthly.
Not sure where to start, what type of facial to get? That’s literally what the consultation is for.
Let’s figure it out together!
Stay glowing ✨
